Description

Pooles Cottages is a pair of cottages dating from the 16th century. They are constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a hipped peg tile roof featuring gablets at both ends. The cottages are two storeys high and have two large square stacks along the ridge line, as well as an additional stack located through the lean-to roof at the rear. The windows are modern casements, and there is a single flat hooded porch from the early 19th century supported by scroll brackets. Inside, the heavy timber framing is exposed, showcasing close studding and stop-chamfered bridging joists.
