Description
Gowrie House is a house that was formerly a manse and school room, dating from the 17th century and later. It is timber framed and plastered, consisting of two storeys with attics and has an 'L' shaped plan. The two-storey north block features a half-hipped peg tile roof and a ridge line stack at its east end. The windows are double hung sashes with a single central vertical glazing bar, and some have label hood moulds. On the west side, there is a canted bay window with a peg tile roof, also fitted with a double hung sash window. The lower rear school block has a hipped peg tile roof at the south end and includes a small stack. The windows in this section are 19th and 20th century casements. Inside, there are some early 19th century details, including lattice fretted door heads and original 17th century doors.
