Description
The White Horse Inn is a public house dating from the early 17th century. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure with peg tile roofs. The building is two storeys high with attics and has an 'L' shaped plan, including a two-storey crosswing at the east end. There are large rear extensions and single-storey gabled extensions at both ends. The roof is half-hipped at the west end and slopes down to the crosswing ridgeline.
On the front, there are two gabled dormers with white boarding and casement windows, along with a stack positioned against the east wall, located off-centre on the ridgeline. The front elevation includes two three-light 20th-century casements with small panes, situated above a peg tile lean-to, part of which forms an open porch supported by oak posts and featuring a fixed seat on the side. Behind this, there is an older three-light casement with small panes, and this section is adorned with modern carved ornament in a 17th-century style.
The crosswing displays 19th-century bargeboards and features one double-hung sash window with small panes above a canted bay window topped with a hipped peg tile roof. Inside, the substantial timber frame is exposed, revealing signs of a stack bay with an inglenook and a large mantel beam. The crosswing does not have a jettied design.
