Description

The war memorial at The Heath was erected in 1920 and is made of limestone. The sculptor is unknown. It features a splayed base that is square in shape, supporting an undecorated Celtic cross with a moulded shaft, all on a stepped plinth. On the east side of the plinth, there is an inscription that reads, "To the memory of our men who fell in the Great War 1914-1919." The remaining three faces of the plinth have inscribed inscriptions and rolls of honour for those who served in the First World War, while the names of those who died during the Second World War are inscribed on the western face of the base. The memorial remains unaltered and is a fine example of a First World War memorial.
