Description
Hurdle End is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It is timber framed and covered in white weatherboarding, topped with a half hipped peg tile roof that features one gabled wide dormer and an off-centre ridge line stack. The building is one storey high with attics and has a large rear extension that creates an 'L' plan shape from the 19th and 20th centuries. There is a lean-to garage at the west end. The open porch at the front has a gable, and the windows are 20th-century casements with rectangular leaded lights. Originally, it was a three-bay small open hall house with long wide internal wall braces and jowled posts. Inside, a complete timber chimney stack remains, supported by corner posts, although it has been infilled with later brickwork. One old leaded light window is still present in the back wall, allowing borrowed light from the later extension.
