Description

The Old Smithy at The Forge is an early 19th-century forge. It is constructed of red brick with grey headers, and has a hipped slate roof with two chimneys, one for each of the twin forges. The building is single-storied, with four shuttered windows containing small panes of glass, and two doors. The interior retains the original smithy and a small room with a hayloft above. The Old Smithy forms a group with Nos 1 and 2, Wellside Cottages, and The Nook (Nos 1 to 4), along with Blacksmiths House.
