Description

Barn Close is a house dating from the 18th century, with a 19th-century wing facing the street and a 20th-century addition. It is constructed of coursed and squared limestone and features a plain tile roof. The building has a symmetrical two-room plan and is two storeys high, with a single room in the two-storey wing. The west front has two windows on the upper floor and a central doorway; all windows are three-light except for the top right window, which is two-light. The doorway has a timber lintel. The ends of the building have parapet gables. The east wing features a parapet gable with a two-light recessed chamfered mullioned window that has a hood moulding at the upper floor level. The 20th-century flat-roofed extension to this wing is not of special interest.
