Description
Meon Cottage is a house, originally at least two houses, dated 1634 but partly remodeled in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof with ashlar chimney shafts. The chimney backs onto a cross passage and there are two lateral chimney stacks. The building is single storey with an attic.
The front elevation includes a chimney gable to the left of the doorway, which has a shield date stone. To the right is a lateral chimney with a tall shaft. The ground floor has timber casement windows beneath unusual arched timber lintels. In the attic gables, there are two small 2-light windows with chamfered mullions and hoods. The west end gable has been rebuilt in the 20th century and features large 4-light windows. The east gable end appears to be original, with a 4-light window on the ground floor and a 3-light window on the upper floor. There are 20th-century outshuts at the rear. All gables have cross-roll saddles and the chimneys have moulded caps.
