Description

The Manor House is a late 17th-century building that underwent alterations in the 18th and early 19th centuries. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a stone slate roof with a hipped design and coved eaves. The house has a symmetrical rectangular plan with two back wings, and a court area that was filled in during the 18th century. It is two stories tall with an attic.

The east facade displays five original mullioned and transomed windows on the upper floor, including three 6-light windows and one 4-light window. There is a central doorway with a moulded architrave, a thin pulvinated frieze, and a cornice that projects from a moulded string course. On the ground floor, there are three sash windows on either side, featuring beaded jambs and heads. The wings have recessed chamfered mullioned windows with transoms on the ground floor. The north wing includes a blocked 4-centred arched doorway and a 19th-century 16-pane sash window. The infill of the court has matching mullioned and transomed windows and a hipped roof.

Inside, there are two 18th-century panelled rooms at the front, both of which originally had Adam style fireplaces; one remains in place while the other has been moved to an upstairs room and replaced with a Regency fluted marble fireplace. Both rooms feature original brass inner fire surrounds and raised box-fronted fire baskets. All sash windows have shutters, and the staircase includes 17th-century turned balusters. Additionally, a stone salting tray from at least the 18th century is preserved in the cellar.
