Description
A pair of houses, originally a single house, dated to the 17th century with at least two phases of construction. The building is constructed of coursed squared and rubble limestone with a stone slate roof. It is two storeys with an attic. A chimney runs behind a cross passage, with a lateral chimney and a single-storey back wing also with an attic.
The front of the building features a four-centred arched doorway with decorated spandrels, and four three-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows with hoods. Three gables on the upper floor each have small arched windows in the attic, and a tall chimney gable is present. The north gable end has raked buttresses and two two-light windows. A three-light window sits above a 20th-century porch and doorway on the south side. The rear has a matching four-centred arched doorway and two two-light windows in the upper floor gables. One two-light and one three-light window are visible on the ground floor.
On the south wall of the back wing, a four-light window is complemented by a 19th-century attic dormer. All chimneys are constructed with ashlar shafts and moulded caps, with cross-roll saddles on all gables.
The interior has been largely altered in the 20th century, but retains a blocked inglenook behind the cross passage, and a fireplace with a four-centred arched lintel and decorated spandrels in an upper floor room at the north end.
