Description

A pair of houses, one of which was formerly a post office, dating to the 16th and 17th centuries, with 18th-century additions. The building is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, with a stone slate roof and plain tiles on the granary wing. Part of the structure has square timber framing. The houses are two storeys high, arranged in a T-plan with an attached granary. The south gable features two recessed 3-light chamfered mullioned windows, a projecting gable tablet, and a cross-roll saddle stone. Stone steps lead to the granary. Altered windows are visible in the east-facing timber framing. The east and north wings contain mullioned windows of 2 and 3-lights. The east wing has a gable chimney with a moulded string course and cap, and an inscribed date stone reading “DJH 1744”.
