Description

Barndown is a house that was formerly a reading room, built in the late 19th century or early 20th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone with squared quoins and features a stone slate roof. The building consists of two rooms and is a single storey with an attic, with a porch located at the south end.

On the north gable end, there is a three-light window above a deep five-light recessed chamfered mullioned window. The side elevation facing the road is irregular and includes a hooded five-light window and two small single-light staircase windows. The porch has a four-centred arched opening. Additionally, some small casement windows with timber lintels have been inserted into the south gable end.
