Description
No 17 and No 18 are two cottages, originally three, located in Great Barrington Village. They were built in the early to mid-19th century and are constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof and ashlar stacks. The cottages have a long rectangular plan and feature a 20th-century flat-roofed extension at the rear, which is not of special interest.
The facade has six windows, each fitted with 2-light wooden casements that have leaded panes and flat-chamfered surrounds with stopped hoods. Each cottage has a 20th-century two-panel door set within flat-chamfered surrounds, topped by flat canopies with moulded margins supported by moulded brackets. There are two axial stacks with cappings and skirtings. The interiors have not been inspected.
