Description
No 40 and 41 are detached cottages located in Great Barrington Village. They are constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone. Originally thatched, the roof was felted at the time of the last survey in June 1986. The building has ashlar stacks. No 41 has a rectangular plan with a lean-to at the left gable end and features two windows with 2-light casements on the first floor. The ground floor has stone-mullioned casements, with the left-hand casement having a hood. There are gable-end stacks with cappings, and a plank door leads to the lean-to on the left. No 40 is two storeys high and has a plank door to the left, with two-light casements on both the ground and first floors. At the time of the survey in June 1986, all openings were boarded up. The cottages are part of the Barrington Park Estate.
