Description

No. 148 is a cottage that is part of a row, likely dating from the 18th century, with a late 19th-century addition on the left side of the front. The building features rough-plaster and colourwashed walls, which are probably made of rubble, and has a slate roof that is hipped on the left and gabled on the right, with a squat brick ridge stack on the left.

The plan consists of a single room depth, with a central entrance hall and a room on each side; the left room is heated, and there is an additional room at the extreme left. The cottage is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with three windows. The windows are 2-light 19th-century casements with 12 panes. The central door opening contains a 19th-century plank door that has a glazed panel, topped by a gabled slated hood with a fretwork bargeboard and side panels featuring wooden latticework. The left addition has a large 6-pane sash window on the ground floor, while the first floor has no window openings. The interior has not been inspected.
