Description

No. 147 and the attached former forge on the frontage is a cottage that is part of a row, dating from the 19th century. The building is constructed of rubble, with the left side whitewashed and the right side featuring coursed rubble stone. It has an asbestos slate roof divided into two sections, with the right section being hipped, and three brick ridge stacks. There is a small wing on the frontage that has a slate roof.

The plan of the cottage is symmetrical, with a two-window section on the left that includes two small rooms flanking a central entrance hall. Each of these rooms is heated by a gable end stack, and there is a further two-room addition to the right. The single-storey wing, which was formerly a forge, is positioned at right angles to the frontage on the right side.

The exterior of the building is two storeys high and features a 2:2 window arrangement. The windows consist of original casements with two, three, and four lights, all with small panes and glazing bars. The windows on the right side have some cambered heads with brick voussoirs. The door opening is located at the centre of the left two-window section and features a plank door beneath a gabled rubble porch, which is rendered and whitewashed, with a slate roof and fretwork bargeboard. The single-storey building to the right, which was formerly the forge, has a door opening with plank doors. The interior has not been inspected.
