Description
Upcott Farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century, features a lower end that has been rebuilt and incorporated into an early 19th-century addition, creating an L-shaped plan with attached outbuildings to the rear that were formerly used as apple stores. The building is constructed of rubble, with a 19th-century facade that is stuccoed and painted. It has a slate roof with deep eaves on the left side. The left gable end has a brick stack, while the right side features a rubble stack with an upper section made of brick.
The farmhouse is two stories high and has a three-window range of timber sash windows, each with eight panes over eight panes, and crown glass. To the left, there is a similar sash window, and to the right, a 20th-century four-light casement window is positioned next to a panelled door. This door is flanked by wooden pilasters adorned with a Greek key motif, supporting a tent-shaped canopy.
On the right gable end, there is a two-story lean-to with a horizontal sliding sash window that has fifteen panes over fifteen panes. The earlier right-angled rear extension has a corrugated asbestos roof and renewed roof timbers. A large lateral rubble stack with slated caps is present, along with three irregularly spaced two-light casements, each with six panes per light, and additional two-light casements with four panes per light to the left of the stack. A plank door with cover strips is located to the right.
