Description

This is a late 18th-century cottage located on Nethercott Road, Braunton. The construction is whitewashed cob and rubble with a thatched roof. The roof has gable-end stacks, with the stack on the left built of rubble and featuring offsets. A brick-edged buttress and a rounded bread oven are situated in the angle of the roof. The cottage follows a symmetrical plan, with rooms on either side of a central staircase. The front facade is two storeys high and has a three-window arrangement. The windows are largely 20th-century replacements: a 2-light casement over the central tiled roof porch, flanked by two 3-light casements with timber lintels. All window openings have stone sills. A two-storey outshut extends to the rear. The interior has been significantly altered.
