Description
Highfields is a house built around 1830-1840, located on the north side of West Street in Witheridge. The building is roughcast and whitewashed, featuring a slate gable-ended roof with wide eaves and end brick stacks. The layout includes a central staircase hall with reception rooms on either side and two smaller rooms at the rear, which serve as a kitchen and a dairy.
The exterior is symmetrical, with two storeys and three windows that have original 12-pane sash frames with thin glazing bars. The central door opening has a panelled doorcase supported by pilasters, topped with an entablature and cornice. The door itself is panelled, with an applied board above it and a transom light featuring glazing bars. There is a wooden fascia on each side of the door opening at the first-floor level. The interior has not been inspected.
