Description

The Hawthorns is a house built around 1830, located on Newport Road in Stafford. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with brick stacks. The house has a double-depth plan and is designed in a Georgian style. It stands two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window range. The wide eaves and verges are complemented by brick pilaster strips at the ends and to the left of the entrance.

The entrance is accessed by steps and features an architrave, a small-paned half-glazed door, and a Tuscan aedicule. The windows are fitted with sills and have wedge lintels above 16-pane sash windows. The building includes end and cross-axial stacks. The right side has a single-storey projection, which has been partly reconstructed, featuring three 12-pane sashes in a bow window and a conservatory to the right. The left side has two gabled wings and a small addition to the left of a round-headed window.
