Description

No. 19 Newport Road is a house built around 1850. It is constructed of brick with stucco dressings and features a hipped slate roof with brick ridge stacks that consist of four linked flues. The house has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high, with a three-window range of unhorned sashes that have margin light glazing. The exterior includes stucco architraves with aprons on the ground floor, an open porch supported by square piers and pilasters, and a frieze with a blocking course. There is a plinth, a plinth-band string course, and an eaves frieze. The side elevations have similar windows, and there is a canted bay on the right side. Inside, the hall features a stone flagged floor, a stick baluster staircase, a mid-19th century marble fireplace, four-panel doors, cornices, and some early 20th century panelling.
