Description
The Angel Inn is an inn built around 1870, featuring a roughcast and colourwashed exterior over a rubble core, with a slate roof that has wide bracketed eaves and brick stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan with two large rooms on the ground floor. Architecturally, it displays a simple Italianate style, consisting of two storeys and a regular but not symmetrical arrangement of five windows. The original windows are 4-pane sashes set in deep reveals, with keyblocks and slate cills. To the left, there is a door opening with a 20th-century half-glazed door and a transom light, accompanied by an ornamental porch that has a gabled canopy supported by decorative cast-iron brackets. The left side of the building continues in the same style, featuring paired doors with old etched glass. The interior has undergone significant alterations in the 20th century. The Angel Inn holds important group value within its context.
