Description

This milestone, located approximately 220 meters south of the northern turning to Bishops Cannings, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is made of limestone and features a cast iron plate. The stone has a rounded top, with the plate affixed to the front. The plate indicates the distance to London as 86 miles. The lower section of the plate is triangular, showing distances to Marlborough on the left as 11 miles and to Devizes on the right as 3 miles.
