Description

CHIRTON A342 SU 05 NE (north side) 3/49 Milestone at Chirton crossroads II Milestone. 1760's and early C19. Fossiliferous limestone. A square block with slightly rounded top bearing an incised inscription, now partly obliterated, over which is fixed a square cast iron plate, probably early C19, reading DEVIZES / 5 MILES / EVERLEIGH / 9 / ANDOVER / 21.
