Description

The Corner House is an early 19th-century house located on the south side of The Street in Chirton. It features Flemish brickwork and a slate roof, standing two storeys high with three bays. The layout includes a central through stair hall plan that is one room deep, with a lean-to extension at the rear. A late 20th-century bay has been added to the right end, which is not of special interest. The central entrance has a six-panelled door with a fanlight, sheltered by a 20th-century iron porch topped with a swept lead roof. The windows are twelve-paned sashes with concealed boxes and gauged brick lintels that have slightly cambered soffits. The windows on the returns have been replaced. The roof is hipped, and there are stacks on the back wall before the lean-to was added.
