Description

The linhay, located on the south side of the north-east farmyard at Edginswell Farmhouse, is probably from the early 19th century. It is now part of Edginswell Farm but was likely originally associated with Higher Court Farm to the north. The structure is built from local red sandstone rubble with some local grey limestone and features a corrugated-iron roof, which was formerly thatched, with gabled ends.

The linhay forms the south-west side of a large farmyard and consists of three wide, open-fronted bays, with the loft now dismantled. The bays on the north-east side are divided by large cylindrical columns. The rear elevation, which faces the lane, includes a cart doorway. Inside, there are 12 pegged 'A'-frame trusses with butt collars. This linhay is part of a cohesive group of traditional farm buildings that includes other listed structures in the yard.
