Shippon/Stable On East Side Of South West Farmyard At Edginswell Farm

This building is a farm structure, likely a shippon or stable, dating from the 19th century. It is constructed of cob and stone rubble, with some areas repaired in brick, and features a thatched roof that is hipped at the ends and covered with corrugated iron. The building is positioned at right angles to Edginswell Farmhouse, forming the east side of a narrow farmyard and backing onto the garden.

On the exterior, it is partly lofted and has one window, the remains of another, two doorways, and one loft window. The front has been significantly rebuilt to the right of the main doorway and includes some timber elements. Inside, the left end is lofted, while the right end has been used for livestock, featuring brick feeding troughs on stone bases and a paved floor. The loft appears to date from the 19th century, and there is stone paving in the central section. The roof consists of seven 'A'-frame trusses, which have been heavily repaired and are in poor condition. This building is included for its group value.
