Threshing Barn On North East Side Of North East Farmyard At Edginswell Farmhouse

The threshing barn, located on the north-east side of the farmyard at Edginswell Farmhouse, is likely from the early 19th century. It is constructed of cob on stone rubble footings, with some brick repairs. The barn features a gabled corrugated-iron roof at the right end, which connects to the roof of the adjacent shippon and cider house on the left, which was formerly thatched. The barn has a large plan with two threshing floors. On the south-west side, facing the yard, there are two pairs of large double doors supported by timber lintels, with opposed doors on the rear elevation. Inside, there are twelve pegged 'A'-frame trusses with butt collars, enhanced by secondary collars. This barn is part of a significant group of traditional farm buildings at Edginswell Farmhouse.
