Description

A threshing barn, likely dating from the early 19th century, stands south east of Dent House. The barn is constructed of colourwashed rendered cob and stone rubble, with a slate roof that is hipped at the ends. It has a rectangular plan, featuring opposed threshing doors at the rear (the rear door now blocked) and an attached lean-to, likely a former cartshed, on the front right side. The barn is single-storied, with a large doorway on the front, incorporating cob cheeks, and a lean-to built against the right-hand cheek. A single window is located high up on the left return side. Inside, the roof is supported by pegged collar rafter trusses. The barn contributes to the informal courtyard arrangement south and east of Dent House and shares group value with Dent House and a cider house.
