Description

A threshing barn, likely dating from the 17th century or earlier, stands immediately north of Straithead Cottage. The barn is constructed of stone rubble, whitewashed and plastered except for the south-facing elevation. It has a thatched roof, half-hipped at each end. The plan is rectangular, with opposed double doors. The north elevation features a catslide thatch that slopes down over the cheeks around the doorway. There are small, timber-framed slit windows set high in each gable end. The interior was not inspected during the survey. The barn occupies a prominent roadside location and has group value with Straithead Cottage.
