Edginswell Farmhouse

Edginswell Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely originated in the 17th century, with a significant early 19th-century renovation and later additions. The building is roughcast with gabled slate roofs and features stacks with rendered shafts. The original wing is constructed of local red sandstone rubble, but it is largely roofless and overgrown.

The farmhouse has a single-depth rectangular main block that faces north, which may have been the hall range, rebuilt at the west end. The east end crosswing projects to the front and consists of two rooms, but it is mostly in ruins. The masonry of the north end wall is different, suggesting that the gable end may have been rebuilt.

The exterior features two storeys and an asymmetrical front with two windows on the left and one on the right, with the roofline lower over the right end. The front door is located at the right end of the left-hand block and consists of a four-panel door with an overlight that has glazing bars. The windows are large casements with glazing bars, including a three-light window with an ovolo-moulded 17th-century wood-mullioned window on the right side of the wing. The wing also has a three-window west front with a 19th-century door to the left and two ground-floor windows, along with one first-floor window. The east elevation features a similar ovolo-moulded mullioned window.

The interior of the main range has not been inspected, but the rear ruin of the wing retains its ground floor ceiling with plastered-over crossbeams.
