Description

Drybrookes Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century, with a left part and wing added in the 18th century, along with later alterations. It is constructed of sandstone rubble, with timber-framed gables that have brick infill on the left and stone on the right. The roof is covered with plain tiles and features large brick external stacks and a ridge stack. The building has an L-shaped plan with a wing at the rear on the right side.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a four-window range. A half-glazed, four-panelled door located in the third bay has a painted wood lintel, and there is a fire window to the left. The ground floor features 19th and 20th-century three-light casements with varying horizontal glazing bars, while the fourth bay has similar two-light casements. The ground-floor windows on the left have 19th-century brick segmental arches, and the first-floor windows show some brick patching around their openings. The left return side has an arched plank door in the rear wing, and the rear of the building is irregular, with a partially demolished wing and bricked-up openings. The left return side also features a cornice, and a large round arch with a keystone is partly obscured by a 19th or 20th-century lean-to.

Inside, the room to the left has a large open fireplace, and the ceiling beam has a run-out chamfer. Other rooms contain rough ceiling beams, and there is a wide straight-flight staircase. The first floor displays exposed queen strut trusses, and two segmental-arched doorways with a 18th-century two-panelled door and a ledged door are cut through a tie beam. One room has a rough stud partition.
