Description
Bakehouse Cottages are two cottages located on Bentley Coleshill Road, dating from the 17th century with later alterations. The left cottage, No. 53, is constructed of sandstone rubble, although the front features various bricks and timber framing at the right corner. It has a thatched roof. The right cottage, No. 55, is made of sandstone rubble with a felt roof and has a large brick ridge stack. Both cottages have a one-unit plan with an outshut to the rear and are one storey with an attic. No. 53 has a ground-floor window consisting of two fixed lights with glazing bars and shutter hooks, while both cottages have plank doors. No. 55 features two eyebrow dormers and 2-light casements with horizontal glazing bars. The interiors of both cottages include chamfered beams and open fireplaces.
