Description

BENTLEY COLESHILL ROAD SP29NE (South-east side) Bentley Common 1/89 Nos.53 and 55 (Bakehouse 27/04/81 Cottages) - II Two cottages. C17 with later alterations. No. 53 to left is of sandstone rubble, but front is largely of varying brick; timber framing to right corner. Thatched roof. No. 55 is of sandstone rubble. Felt roof. Brick large ridge stack. Each is a one-unit plan with outshut to rear. One storey and attic. No.53 has ground-floor window only, of 2 fixed lights with glazing bars and shutter hooks. Plank doors to both cottages. No.55 has 2 eyebrow dormers. 2-light casements have horizontal glazing bar. Interiors noted as having chamfered beams and open fireplaces.
