Description

Baxterley Old Hall is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the 16th century. It was possibly largely rebuilt by Thomas Strong in the early to mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a plain-tile roof with a brick gable parapet on the right side. It has a large composite central internal stack, which was largely rebuilt in 19th and 20th century brick, while the rear wing has an external stack made of stone and brick. The layout is a lobby entry T-plan with a wing at the rear.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The front is regular, featuring a central plank door with painted brick reveals set within an outer opening. The windows are 19th century two-light casements with horizontal glazing bars; the first floor has narrower windows and a small one-light central window. All openings have brick segmental arches, with painted keystones on the ground floor. There is a one-storey lean-to addition on the right side that includes a three-light window. The left return side, likely rebuilt in the 19th century, has a one-window range, while the rear wing showcases older brickwork.

Inside, the room to the right has ceiling beams, and the room to the left features moulded cross beams on curved brackets with leaf carving, along with a 19th-century partition inserted at one end. There are also some late 17th century to early 18th century two-panelled doors.
