Description

Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse shown on the Ordnance Survey map as Baxterley Hall Farm. The rear wing dates from the 17th century and was largely rebuilt in the 19th century, while the front range is from the early to mid-18th century with 19th-century alterations. The front range is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a string course. The rear wing is partly timber framed with brick infill but has been rebuilt in brick. The roof is a late 20th-century hipped design with plain tiles, and there is an old brick ridge stack. The building has a complex L-plan with the wing on the left side at the rear. It stands three storeys tall and has a two-window range. The front range was originally four bays and retains parts of blocked openings with gauged brick flat arches. The ground floor features two 19th-century bay windows and 19th or 20th-century three-light wood mullioned and transomed windows. The first floor has blocked openings on the left and right, as well as late 20th-century top-hung windows with 19th-century brick segmental arches cut into other openings. The second floor is low and has small windows with glazing bars. The entrance in the wing has a 20th-century part-glazed door. The wing includes some timber framing, with a former cross gable that has been built up and the roof now running in the opposite direction. The fenestration is irregular, featuring a mix of 19th and 20th-century windows. The interior has not been inspected.
