Description

BAXTERLEY SP29NE 1/84 Old Farmhouse at Charity Farm 22/08/86 - II Farmhouse, now abandoned. Late C17 and C19. Coursed rubble sandstone and blue brick, with red brick patching, and quoins. Steeply pitched plain-tile roofs; brick central ridge and end stacks. T-plan with additions. 2 storeys and attic; 3 bays. South elevation has lean-to porch in angle with plank door and segmental-arched one-light window. 2-light casements throughout. Cross wing to right has cellar window, and casements with segmental arches. Main range has window to left. One-storey eastern range has window with timber lintel. South elevation is a 2-window range. Cross-wing on left has C20 brick one-storey lean-to, not of special architectural interest. First-floor wood and attic C20 metal casements. Main range has wood casements and also a one-light ground-floor window. Openings have C19 blue brick sills and segmental arches. Interior has chamfered beams and evidence of an inglenook fireplace.
