Description

Tiled House Farmhouse is a Grade II listed farmhouse, mostly dating from the late 17th century, possibly incorporating an older core. It features small square panel timber-framing with rendered infill set on a tall chamfered dressed stone plinth. The gable ends to the north and east are faced with ashlar and coped, and the building has a steep tile roof that was formerly thatched. There are short ashlar ridge and end stacks on the northwest range, along with a large external ashlar stack on the east gable end, which has a stepped design on the north side with moulded cornices.

The farmhouse is arranged in an L-plan with a 20th-century lean-to in the rear angle, and it has two storeys plus an attic, with long ranges extending to the south and northwest. The south front features a nearly central door with six fielded panels, accompanied by a porch likely from the 20th century. To the left on the first floor are small casements, while the ground floor has larger scattered casements. The right-hand return of the south range includes two three-light stone mullions with square hoodmoulds, one on each floor, and a small arched light in the attic.

The west front displays scattered 20th-century fenestration, a pointed chamfered timber archway towards the north end, and a small square wooden oriel bay on three decorative scroll brackets, featuring 1/4/1-lights and a mid-transom, positioned to the right of the doorway. The plinth on the west side steps forward by approximately one metre, nearly level with the back of the south range. The interior contains many beams and a large stone fireplace at the ridge stack, although it has only been partially inspected.
