Description
Roadway Farm is a former farmhouse that is detached and likely dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century, possibly incorporating an older structure. It is built of coursed stone with large flush quoins and features a stone slate roof, along with ashlar end stacks that have a moulded cornice. The building is a single long range, two storeys high with an attic, and has small 20th-century additions at both ends.
The east entrance front has two windows with two-light stone mullions that have square hoodmoulds, although the central mullion is missing. Flanking the central 20th-century raking porch on the ground floor are two-light wood casements. The front also features three hipped dormers with partly leaded casements.
The probable original main front to the west has four windows with two/ two/ one/ three-light stone mullions, all with square hoodmoulds that extend continuously over the two-light windows. The ground floor mirrors this arrangement, featuring a chamfered stone doorway with a very large flush lintel positioned between a two-light window and a single light, with a continuous hoodmould that extends beyond the single light. To the right, there is a basement with two two-light windows, also with a continuous hoodmould.
While the interior has been modernised, it still retains chamfered beams.
