Description
Church House is a house that was formerly an inn, built in the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of regularly coursed sandstone and features a splay cornice. The roof is made of old plain tiles and has brick end stacks. The building is L-shaped, with a lower wing on the left at the rear, facing Flew Street. It has two storeys and a two-window range. The entrance features a six-panelled door with a gabled plain-tile hood supported by simple brackets. The ground floor has horned sash windows. On the right return side, there is a large first-floor lancet window with two chamfered orders and glazing bars that rises into the gable. The one-storey and attic wing has a plank door with a chamfered segmental-pointed arch and a small ogee-arched light, which may be re-used medieval work. There is also a lancet window on the right with two chamfered orders and cross glazing. The interior has not been inspected.
