Description
Stone Cottage is a cottage that dates from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with red brick quoins and a dentil cornice, topped with an old plain-tile roof. The building features brick end stacks and an internal stack located in the right corner. It has a T-plan layout and stands two storeys tall with a two-window range. The central entrance is a plank door, flanked by three-light casements that include top lights and central opening lights. On the first floor, there are three-light casements on the left, also with a central opening light. The left end of the cottage has a doorway, while the right end features a small single light. A brick buttress is present on the right front corner. At the rear, there is a doorway with two-light casements and a lean-to extension. Inside, the cottage is noted for its chamfered spine beams, some chamfered rafters, and two open fireplaces, one of which has a possibly reused ovo-moulded bressumer.
