Description

Freasley Hall is a house that may date from the late 17th century but is marked with the year 1723. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with sandstone dressings and a moulded plinth, featuring a painted moulded wood cornice. The roof, added in the late 20th century, is a plain-tile hipped design. The house has a central staircase plan and consists of two storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a five-window range.

The symmetrical front and the left return side display rusticated alternating quoins and a string course. The entrance features a fielded six-panelled door with a two-light lead-latticed overlight, all set within a moulded stone surround topped by a deeply moulded cornice. Above the door, the string course steps up. The windows, which are late 20th-century sashes, have gauged brick flat arches and keystones with moulded cornices. Three hipped roof dormers contain late 20th-century two-light casements.

The left return side mirrors the front with a similar three-bay design, featuring a central bay of rusticated stone. It has an eight-panelled double-leaf door and overlight in a moulded stone surround with a segmental pediment, approached by a flight of graduated stone steps. Above this door is a window with a keystone and the date 1723, along with two two-light double-chamfered mullioned basement windows.

Inside, the dog-leg staircase features a scrolled string, column-on-vase balusters, a wreathed handrail, a column newel, and a panelled dado. The ground floor has late 20th-century six-panelled doors, while the first floor features fielded four-panelled doors.
