Description
Yew House is a house dating from the late 16th to 17th century, with some parts refaced in the 18th or early 19th century and later additions. It features a timber frame with whitewashed brick infill and some painted sham framing. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and there are brick stacks at the right end and along the ridge. The house has a three-unit plan with additions, standing two storeys high with an attic and a three-window range. To the left, there is a one-storey-and-attic section with a three-window range. The entrance on the right has a ribbed two-panelled door. The windows are irregularly arranged, consisting of two- and three-light leaded casements, with five windows on the ground floor, two of which have segmental arches. The left range includes a 20th-century two-light dormer. There is a one-storey range set back on the right, made of whitewashed brick with a dentil cornice and a hipped roof, featuring a three-light wood mullioned and transomed window with a segmental arch. The interior is reported to have a 17th-century staircase.
