Description
Edginswell Hall is a house, likely dating to the late 1830s or early 1840s. It was formerly known as Edginswell House and marked on Ordnance Survey maps as such. The house is constructed of rendered material with a slate roof, and has hipped ends with stacks featuring rendered shafts. The plan is a double-depth rectangular design with a central entrance.
The symmetrical entrance front has three bays and is characterised by a substantial Roman Doric porch, the entablature decorated with laurel wreaths in relief and a deep projecting cornice. The doorway is round-headed, with panelled reveals and a panelled door featuring a fanlight with spider's web glazing bars. The ground-floor windows on the front are 12-pane sashes from the early 19th century. The first-floor window in the centre is a round-headed sash with intersecting glazing bars. Deep eaves are punctuated by paired brackets and there is an eaves band.
A rear wing, not accessible for survey, is described as having flush frame sashes, a three-window return, and a canted bay to the south. This rear element extends back, with two hipped roof bays, featuring six recessed flush frame sashes on the first floor. The ground floor of this wing was altered around 1900, with the insertion of casement windows and French windows.
The interior has not been inspected, but may contain features of interest.
