HOPE UNDER DINMORE CP UPPER HILL SO 45 SE 4/78 Yoke Farmhouse GV II

Farmhouse. Probably mid- to late C17, part rebuilt early C19. Part sandstone ashlar, part timber-framed with rendered infill and sandstone rubble with hipped slate roof and brick ridge stack. Original part of two framed bays aligned east/west; external rubble chimney with offsets and rebuilt stack on south side. C19 rebuilt wing adjoins to north with large external rubble chimney, brick stack and bread oven at north end. Also large chimney at junction of the two ranges. Two storeys. Framing: two rows of square panels at first floor level, collar and tie-beam truss with two struts at east end. Main east elevation: C19 part of three bays Windows are all 3-light C19 casements with cambered heads. Central entrance also has a cambered head, a panelled door and a transom light. The gable end of the original part to the left has a 3-light C19 casement on both floors. Interior has remained little altered since the C19. The hipped roof incorporates part of the roof of the original wing. (RCHM, Herefs, III, p 71, item 12).
