Description
Lodge Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the mid- to late 17th century and has undergone alterations in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The structure is timber-framed with painted brick infill, set on a tall painted brick and sandstone rubble plinth, with some sections of rubble walling and a slate roof. The building consists of two framed bays aligned east to west, featuring an external chimney and a rebuilt brick stack on the north side. It has two storeys and an attic. The framing includes three rows of panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with a queen post truss at the east end.
The main entrance is located on the east end, where there are two ground floor 2-light 20th-century casement windows and an attic light. A substantial timber-framed lean-to outshut is attached to the north elevation, which encloses the chimneys and has a 20th-century lean-to addition on its east side. This addition features a large 4-light window in its east elevation and the main entrance, which includes a 20th-century door on its left side. There is also an additional structure on the south side.
