Description
Bouldon Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble, timber-frame, and brick, with a rendered finish and a plain tile roof. The building features two rubble stacks and a lateral buttress stack on the right, which has a 20th-century brick chimney. The farmhouse has an E-shaped plan, with advanced gable-wings to a single-storey range.
The exterior is two storeys high with an attic and has a two-window range. There are two-light casements under a wooden hood, and to the right gable, there is a 19th-century three-light casement under a brick segmental arch, with a 20th-century two-light casement above it. The central range has a large gabled roof dormer featuring an early 19th-century three-light window with a central metal casement and leaded lights. The entrance is located to the centre right, consisting of a plank door in a beaded oak case under a simple hood. To the right of the entrance are two three-light casements and a fixed light, some of which have leaded lights.
The right side of the building has two tiers of early 19th-century cross-windows. The rear wing is made of rubble and contains timber-framing. The left side features 17th-century timber-framing with brick infill over rubble. The rear of the farmhouse showcases timber-framing with brick and plaster infill, with 18th and 19th-century lights and casements, a 20th-century plank door, and a 19th-century plank door under a simple porch. The interior has not been inspected but is known to contain deep-chamfered ceiling beams.
