Description
Peaton Hall is a house that dates from the 16th or 17th century, with a front added around 1920. It is constructed of dressed stone rubble and has a plain tile roof. The building features a massive brick central stack and two end stacks, which have recessed panels, spurs, pilasters, and bands.
The house is two storeys tall with a cellar and has a three-window range of mullion and transom oriels, along with a modillion band at the eaves. The central entrance is located under a gabled porch, positioned between the mullion and transom bays, and there is a datestone to the right that reads "ER 1665."
On the right side, there are 19th-century casements in the gables, and a plank door is flanked by early 20th-century windows. The left side features a 17th-century studded plank door with strap hinges leading to the basement. At the rear, there is a moulded mullion light in the basement, 20th-century windows, and a roughcast wing added in the 20th century.
Inside, the hall is reputed to contain panelling dated 1587 and an ornate plaster ceiling.
