Description

Bouldon Mill, now a house, was built in the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with a hipped roof covered with some old plain tiles, and features a brick ridge stack. The building is L-shaped. The exterior has three storeys and originally a three-window range. Windows are now mostly 20th-century 2-light casements set under brick segmental arches, with plain lights and central wood mullions. To the left is a leaded light with a metal casement. The central entrance has a 20th-century glazed door in an altered opening, beneath a brick arch and flat hood supported by cast-iron pillars. Bow windows were added in the 20th century, flanking the entrance in altered openings. A 20th-century extension is located to the left. The right returned side has 20th-century windows and an over-shot water wheel with a wooden axle. The rear features a 2-light metal casement under a brick segmental arch. Internally, the mill retains metal spur wheels, stones, and shafts.
