Description

The barn and shelter sheds, located south-south-east of Heath Chapel, date from the 18th and 19th centuries. They are constructed from coursed stone rubble and feature weatherboarded timber-frame elements. The roofs are made of plain tiles and corrugated iron sheets. The structure consists of a three-bay continuous range with a two-bay end extension.

On the north front, there are three bays of weatherboarded timber-frame with square framing, three panels high, set on a stone rubble plinth. To the right, there is an open bay and a stone-walled bay at the far right. The right return gable-end is made of stone and includes triangular ventilation holes. The left return gable-end has been rebuilt in brick on the existing stone plinth, featuring a pitching hole at the upper level.

At the rear, facing south, the weatherboarded timber-frame extends to the far right, covered by a six-bay shelter shed extension. There is a barn doorway to the right, with stone walls and an open bay to the left. The shelter sheds form an L-shaped extension to the south, with walls that continue to create a fold yard. The single-storey shelter sheds to the east have a tile roof and consist of six bays, supported by five king-post trusses from the 18th century, while the three bays to the south date from the 19th century. The interior has not been inspected.
