SO58NE Barn and shelter sheds 482-1/1/141 south-south-east of Heath Chapel

GV II

Barn and shelter sheds. C18 and C19. Coursed stone rubble and weatherboarded timber-frame. Plain-tile and corrugated iron sheet roofs. 3-bay continuous range with 2-bay end extension. EXTERIOR: north front with 3 bays of weatherboarded timber-frame of square framing 3 panels high on stone rubble plinth, open bay to right and stone-walled bay to far right. Right return gable-end: stone with triangular ventilation holes. Left return gable-end: rebuilt in brick on existing stone plinth. Pitching hole at upper level. Rear to south: weatherboarded timber-frame to far right covered by 6-bay shelter shed extension. Barn doorway to right. Stone walls with open bay to left. Shelter sheds form L-shaped extension to south with walls continuing to form fold yard. Single-storey tile-roofed shelter sheds of 6 bays to the east with 5 king-post trusses of C18 date, and 3 bays to the south of C19 date. INTERIOR: not inspected.
