Description
The barn and shelter shed at Slade Barn Farm, likely built in the early 19th century, features random rubble stone walls with well-squared dressings and a stone slate roof. The structure consists of a four-bay barn with an off-centre porch on one side and a lean-to attached to the porch. There is also an 'L' shaped shelter shed extending from the gable of the barn, which has four bays.
The west side of the barn faces downhill and includes a plinth and a slit air vent on the left. The porch projects from this side and has a boarded door with a timber lintel on the left return. A double-boarded door, set off-centre to the right within the porch, has a concrete lintel, with a window above it featuring a stone lintel. The lean-to is positioned against the right side of the porch and includes a slit air vent in its gable. The main wall of the barn beyond is not visible.
On the left side, the lower shelter shed has one bay projecting from the gable and three bays returning to face the barn. The front of the shelter shed is open, supported by timber posts on stone bases, with some later posts added and a boarded front in part. At the rear of the barn, there are double boarded doors with a timber lintel at eaves level, along with one slit air vent to the right and two to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
